MARCH 2010 EDITION
Thank You STEVE THIELEN for putting so much time and effort into planning the Presidents Weekend club ride.  Unfortunately, with the lack of snow in the Chisholm area the ride was changed to Melrose then to Long Prairie Minnesota.  The riders were pleasantly surprised to find great trails and rode 164 miles on Saturday!  Quoting Scott Lipa, "we had good riding and some even better laughs!"
Maybe next year we can try Chisholm once again!
Congratulations, Beckie & Chelsey Zweig, Sharon McDowell, Judy Bemmels and Arlyss Onken for attempting and completing the first ever, all women Mud Dog ride to the MnUSA Winter Rendezvous.

WAY TO GO LADIES!
Thank you Curt for the personalized Mud Dogette Trophy, we will display it proudly!
Bob & July Bemmels, Curt & Beckie Zweig,
Chelsey Zweig & Keith Bolin, Jerry & Sharon McDowell, Tom Anttila &  Paul & Arlyss Onken for representing Region 6 and the Coon Rapids Sno Cruisers at the MnUSA Winter Rendezvous at the Grand Casino in Hinckley Minnesota.  We especially want to thank Bob, Judy & Paul for putting together an awesome silent auction contribution which brought in a significant amount of money for the snowmobile defense fund.  The total amount raised from the entire silent auction was just over $14,000!
Thank you to Waldoch Sports for their generous donations to the silent auction and to the sport of snowmobiling.

Thank you to everyone that attended the Legislative Reception on February 24th, we must continue to make our voices heard in support of our loved sport of Snowmobiling.
The following was received on February 25:

Message from Doug Franzen, MnUSA Lobbyist -         Thank you all for your hard work. MnUSA has received notice from the State that the raid on the dedicated fund is no longer part of the Governor's Supplemental Budget. The Governor has made clear his intention to protect the fund. Numerous legislators from both parties have now committed to protecting our fund. Please take a moment to thank your legislator for his or her support.         The bill to reduce the trail liability insurance limit back to $1 million has been introduced as HF2669 and SF2834. We will keep you posted of any further updates. Nancy Hanson, Business Coordinator

NOMINATIONS FOR SNOWMOBILER OF THE YEAR 2010 ALONG WITH THE TROPHY PRESENTATION WILL TAKE PLACE AT OUR SPRING BANQUET 2010.

        Come prepared with your nomination!
Snowmobiler of the Year 2009:  Judy Bemmels
It's time to plan your nomination for the
 Prestigious KNUCKLEHEAD AWARD.
        F
or new members, here is a little history of this award.  It was originally called the "Crash Award" and given out to poke fun of a member who had banged up a sled or themselves, usually accompanied by a crazy story or tale.  Finally, in 1999, the Crash Award was retired with Steve Krantz after the club decided it was not a good idea to give an award to someone that had crashed, fortunately, up to that point there had been no serious injuries.  The ensuing award was named the Jackass Award back in May 2003 and again renamed, officially, to the                                         KNUCKLEHEAD AWARD

in April 2004.  This prestigious award will again be presented at the Spring Banquet, to a Cruiser that has presented himself/herself with a
KNUCKLEHEAD move or incident.  Be prepared to make a nomination and tell the pertaining story at the Spring Banquet.
Good Luck to All.
By the way JERRY MCDOWELL
be sure to bring the Knucklehead Trophy to the Banquet to be passed on to the 2010 recipient!

The Coon Rapids Sno Cruisers congratulate
Major Justin R. Swick on his retirement from the United States Marine Corps, Tactical Systems Support Activity, on Thursday, the 18th of March 2010, at Camp Pendleton, California.
Justin and his wife Kristine are honorary members of the Sno Cruisers, and some of us have many fond memories of riding with Justin and Kristine when they resided in Minnesota.  Who knows, maybe the Swicks will find time now that Justin is retiring to join us on some future rides!
We wish you all the best and thank you for your service to our Country.
